Letters, flight logs, radiograms and clippings by and about Amelia Earhart (AE). There are two letters (ms) from AE to George Putnam, one about their upcoming marriage and the other expressing her belief that women must challenge themselves. Also in AE's hand is a will (1928) and two flight logs (1928, n.d.). A scrapbook contains photographic copies of sketches of AE, clippings, AE's handprints, and other related items. Several 1937 radiograms deal with the search for AE after her disappearance. A large portion of the collection consists of letters from AE's mother, Amy Otis Earhart, to Betty Bowers. An addendum to the collection contains information gathered after the Museum received the collection. There is correspondence regarding the plane Earhart used on her last flight, a script by Carol Sobieski entitled "AE," and four audio tapes of lectures about AE.

Amelia Mary Earhart (AE) was born on July 24, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas, the first daughter of Amy (Otis) Earhart and Edwin Stanton Earhart. Her sister, Grace Muriel, was born three years later.
